Surgical and clinical oncology
This lecture will clarify which therapy options are available for individual cases. Basically, oncology is defined as the science that deals with different types of cancer (including malignant tumours). One of the three main pillars of oncological treatment options is surgical oncology, the surgical removal of tumors, which can be used in addition to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Due to the often complete removal of a tumour and the local lymph drainage pathways, a complete recovery of the patient can often be achieved. However, oftentimes one treatment option is not sufficient.
