Medical expert training for sub-specialty radiology
The following lecture is intended to make doctors aware of the importance of selective use of X-rays, as sometimes we underestimate the danger to the body if a patient undergoes X-rays too frequently in his or her life. Although the radiation dose and the risk of cancer is low with a simple X-ray and also with many CTs, too frequent examinations with these means should be avoided. It is crucial to keep in mind whether the benefit justifies the risk. After all, patients rarely question X-rays or CTs. This is not surprising, since they never lead to direct physical reactions. Nevertheless, the long-term consequences should not be disregarded.
